Belleair is best known for its small town feel and the famous Biltmore, but there is much more to this town then meets the eye. If you happen to take a ride down Bayshore, you will notice the gorgeous luxury homes and large private estate lining pristine waters. If you take a walk down Ponce De Leon you will notice the beautiful custom homes with immaculate lawns and creative landscaping.
The shopping and restaurant selection is excellent. There is a very wide variety of dining here in Belleair, including Italian, Chinese, American and Mexican cuisine. As well as your typical corporate food establishments (fast food). I eat in Belleair often and have yet to find an issue with any of the restaurants I have attended. The shopping is similar in choices, you have your typical boutique, shopping centers with 5-10 small business's in each strip center. There are also multiple large grocery stores in Belleair so fresh vegetables, meat and fish will never be hard to come by and a grocery store is usually within walking distance for most residents.
Belleair is a town located in Pinellas County, Florida . It should not be confused with Bel-Air, Florida , located in Seminole County , or Belair, Florida , located in Leon County . Belleair real estate has been one of the crown jewels of Pinellas County real estate, it offers clean, growing community in Florida near the Gulf of Mexico with a great business community. Belleair has had a grand history and is widely known for the Belleview Biltmore Hotel. It all started in 1890 when Henry B. Plant, a railroad magnate built the hotel. It is one of the largest wooden structures in the world and in fact it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Belleair became incorporated in 1923 and is very small compared to other cities in the St. Petersburg / Clearwater area. Belleair is less then two square miles situated between Clearwater and Largo. Belleair is located at 27°56'6" North, 82°48'36" West (27.935048, -82.810117) GR1 .
According to the United States Census Bureau , the town has a total area of 7.3 km² (2.8 mi² ). 4.6 km² (1.8 mi²) of it is land and 2.6 km² (1.0 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 36.30% water.
Demographics
As of the census GR2 of 2000 , there are 4,067 people, 1,973 households, and 1,225 families residing in the town. The population density is 877.2/km² (2,265.8/mi²). There are 2,263 housing units at an average density of 488.1/km² (1,260.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 98.35% White , 0.15% African American , 0.15% Native American , 0.39% Asian , 0.00% Pacific Islander , 0.20% from other races , and 0.76% from two or more races. 2.53% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 1,973 households out of which 17.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.1% are married couples living together, 5.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 37.9% are non-families. 34.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 21.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.04 and the average family size is 2.58.
In the town the population is spread out with 16.2% under the age of 18, 2.5% from 18 to 24, 20.1% from 25 to 44, 28.5% from 45 to 64, and 32.6% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 53 years. For every 100 females there are 84.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 79.1 males.
The median income for a household in the town is $63,267, and the median income for a family is $96,400. Males have a median income of $61,548 versus $31,313 for females. The per capita income for the town is $59,164. 4.0% of the population and 1.4% of families are below the poverty line . Out of the total population, 2.7% of those under the age of 18 and 4.4% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
